With a dynamic background, Berger provides innovative solutions to the most complex roadway projects.  By self performing all excavation and grading work, in addition to under ground utility installation, Berger maintains tight control of every jobsite.  By operating two permanent aggregate recycle plants, in addition to several portable plants, we produce the necessary aggregate material saving time and money.  We strive to maintain the highest client/engineer relationship, through open communication at all times.

Sample Projects:

  • Fairfield and Gilmer Grade Separation (LCDOT) – Under a joint venture with a contract of $14 million for the installation of a bridge and the lowering of the existing Fairfield Road. This project was completed on time under a very critical schedule in order to reduce the traffic impact to the community members of Lake County.
  • Butterfield Road Reconstruction (LCDOT) – As the general contractor with a contract of $12.75 million for the complete reconstruction of approximately 1.4 miles of road from Harding Ave. to IL Route 137. This project includes concludes the final phase of the widening of Butterfield Road from two lanes to four lanes with a divided median.
  • Route 22 Reconstruction (IDOT) – As a subcontractor for the reconstruction of approximately 1.5 miles of Route 22 we performed the sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water distribution reconstruction. This project involved the coordination of several different governing bodies including the local Villages, the County Highway Department, and the state of Illinois Department of Transportation.
  • Washington Street Reconstruction (IDOT) – As the general contractor is project involved widening approximately 1.6 miles of Washington Street from two lanes to four lanes. In addition to the excavation and site utilities, we performed the mitigation of several wetland areas and increased the compensatory storage for storm water detention in the area.
